2025 Façade & Beautification Matching Grant Program

2025 Façade & Beautification Matching Grant Program

The Donora Downtown Committee is proud to announce the launch of the 2025 Façade & Beautification Matching Grant Program, aimed at revitalizing the heart of Donora’s Business District by supporting exterior improvements that promote beauty, safety, and economic vitality.

This grant is designed to assist business and property owners in making visible improvements to their building’s exterior—particularly those located along main entry points and heavily trafficked areas of downtown Donora. The goal is to reduce visual blight, enhance the town’s curb appeal, and strengthen community pride.

What is Blight?
In simple terms, blight refers to visible signs of neglect or decay on a property that reduce the overall appeal and health of a neighborhood. This includes peeling paint, broken signage, rotting wood, cracked windows, crumbling masonry, overgrown landscaping, or outdated and damaged facades. Left unaddressed, blight can discourage investment and foot traffic, impacting the success of nearby businesses and the broader community.

Grant Details:

  • Maximum Award per Recipient: $2,500 (must be matched dollar-for-dollar by the applicant)

  • Total Grant Pool: $10,000

  • Application Period: June 1 – June 30, 2025

  • Award Notification & Disbursement: Friday, July 11, 2025

  • Project Completion Deadline: 60 days from disbursement (one 30-day extension available upon written request)

  • Email to: grants@donoradowntown.org

  • Mail to: P.O. Box 85, Leechburg, PA 15656

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The property must be located within the Donora Business District

  • Applicants may be either property owners or tenants (with landlord’s written consent)

  • Projects must directly enhance the exterior of the building or property (e.g., new signage, lighting, façade repairs, painting, landscaping, windows, doors, masonry, etc.)

  • If funding will be used for labor, at least two competitive bids must be submitted from licensed and insured contractors

  • All matching funds must be verified and available at the time of application

Selection Criteria:

Due to limited funding, not all applicants will be selected. Grant awards will be made to those applications that demonstrate the greatest visual impact on the appearance of downtown Donora, particularly along high-visibility areas and main thoroughfares. Applications that clearly reduce blight and improve the look, safety, or inviting nature of the property will be prioritized.

All applications will be reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and potential impact. Incomplete applications or those missing required documentation will not be considered.

Required Documents Include:

  • Completed application form

  • Written quotes or estimates for all work (two if labor is included)

  • Proof of matching funds (bank statement, loan approval, or grant award letter)

  • Current photos of the property’s exterior

  • Landlord consent letter (if tenant)

  • Project timeline with anticipated start and completion dates
